Kalyna Ski Club is a member owned alpine lodge at Mount Hotham, situated 200 metres from the Big D ski run and metres off the Great Alpine Road. With 16 ensuite bedrooms and capacity for up to 77 guests, Kalyna is one of the largest lodge style properties at the resort and it is open year round.

We are a club, not a hotel. Kalyna exists to make alpine experiences accessible to members, guests, families, groups and community organisations across every season.

A Community Lodge at the Heart of the Resort

At Kalyna, supporting alpine sport and community is at the heart of what we do. The lodge has been bringing people to the mountain for decades; members who return every season, families who love the spacious facilities, school groups experiencing the snow for the first time, and clubs that find the communal lodge format genuinely suits the way groups travel together.

The facilities are designed for shared experiences: a large commercial kitchen with no queuing at meal time, a dining room that seats 36, a warm lounge with an open fireplace, seperate TV room with 3 workspaces, and a games room that keeps everyone occupied in the evening or on a rest day. This is a community lodge, and it feels like one.

Snow Season at Kalyna

Kalyna’s snow season runs from June through to September, with peak season from late June to late August and value season pricing in the shoulder weeks either side.

The lodge has easy roadside access with public loading bays for quick loading and unloading. It is 200 metres from the Big D ski run with easy, road level access; no steep climbs with gear. Mount Hotham’s terrain suits intermediate and advanced skiers, with cross country trails, toboggan areas and ski schools available for families and beginners.

Inside, the lodge offers everything a group needs after a day on the mountain: a fully equipped kitchen with four ovens, three cooktops and ample bench space, a dining room for shared meals, a lounge with fireplace and seperate TV room with 3 work desks, and a games room for the evenings. Rooms accommodate two to seven guests all with ensuites, no sharing bathrooms with other guests.

June and September are worth considering. The shoulder weeks either side of peak season offer the same mountain, the same lodge, and meaningfully lower rates — with quieter slopes and more space to settle in. Many guests who try it once make it a habit.

Beyond the Snow

When the snow season ends, the alpine environment at Mount Hotham becomes something different entirely. The Alpine High Plains open up for walking, the wildflowers arrive from November, and the resort quiets to a pace that suits groups looking for a genuine nature base.

Kalyna is available for group bookings throughout the green season, from October to May, at significantly lower rates than peak season. The lodge has welcomed walking clubs, naturalist and ecology groups, photography clubs, university field study programs, wellness retreats, orchestras and community organisations — all of whom find the communal lodge format works well for purpose driven group travel.
